The activation of the Siemens Associate Centre for Automation and Drives in the presence of esteemed guest, Honorable Vice Chancellor, APJAKTU,  Dr Ciza Thomas at 11 AM, Visvesvarayya Hall on February 22, 2023.

Energy Management Centre (EMC) and Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) has signed an MoU on the execution of the project “Optimal Placement and Impact Assessment of EVCS on Grid Characteristics in Urban Locations of Kerala” by Dr. Jani Das and Mr.Venugopalan Kurupath of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department.

SIEMENS – a global powerhouse focusing on the areas of electrification,automation and digitization unveiled its first COE in Kerala, on 08/03/2018 at Muthoot Institute Of Technology And Science ( MITS) . This venture, is initiated by Department Of Electrical & Electronics at MITS, is expected to demystify the unsolved ‘Academia- Industry’ gap . It has the potential to offer solutions to real life industrial problems and transform student knowledge level by offering certified courses in Basic PLC , HMI Networking , SCADA and AC and DC drives. The MOU between the two is jointly signed by the chief guest of the day Mr. Sachin Bhanushali , Head –SITRAIN , SEIMENS INDIA and Mr. P . George Varghese , The Executive Director of MITS. Mr. K. Viswanath,Head – South Customer Service SIEMENS, Mr. Sebin Skaria Team leader – Service sales specialist of Siemens INDIA, Principal Dr. S Ramkumar , Academic Advisor Dr. A C Mathai,Dr . Anjali Varghese C – Head Of Department of EEE,Mr. Chikku Abraham, Associate Professor- EEE Dept, Mr. Jim George addressed the gathering.

Centre of Excellence Lab of SIEMENS has been set up at MITS under Department of EEE. Based on input after a visit to COE ( Centre of Excellence) at Karunya University, Coimbatore ,a proposal was made to set up the lab which will be the first of its kind in Kerala by SIEMENS .The COE will provide students access to the same technology that companies around the world depend on, to develop innovative products in a wide variety of industries including automotive, aerospace, machinery, shipbuilding, high-tech electronics and many more.

In connection to this the “Train the Trainer” programme started on 5th February, 2018. Selected faculty and lab instructors are undergoing training under Siemens trainers.The participants will be given SIEMENS certification after completing the one month training process. And the participants are expected to impart their training expertise into the students to make them industry ready.
