The NSS unit of MITS is a very socially active body which upholds the NSS motto of “NOT ME BUT YOU” and enables the students to remain connected with the society and updated about their problems. The main aim of the unit is PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT THROUGH SOCIAL SERVICE and to nurture a group of socially committed professionals. Several social welfare programmes such as rural camps, annual special camps, health camps, blood donations camps, various awareness programmes for students and the public, marathons, etc. are organised by the NSS unit of MITS regularly. The unit also looks after several charity programmes of the college.

NSS CELL of MUTHOOT INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE was conducted an online webinar RELAX AND REVIVE on International Yoga Day June 21, 2020.
The webinar was handled by Yogini JIJI UNNIKRISHNAN, B.Sc, M.Sc. Yoga, Yoga Instructor, S-Vyasa University, Bangalore.

'Subhiksha Keralam' scheme aims at large scale production of paddy, fruits, vegetables, tubers, grains and legumes as part of achieving self-sufficiency.
Principal Dr Neelakantan PC launched the Subhiksha Keralam project in the campus on June 8,2020.
The World environment day 2020 with a theme of Biodiversity-Time for nature was celebrated with teaching and non-teaching staff of college on 05.06.2020 at MITS Campus. The programme commenced with the introduction and the significance of the day by Principal Dr.Neelakantan PC. Executive Director, Vice Principal, Administrative Officer and NSS Programme Officer were planted saplings at the different parts of the campus.
Cloth Bag distribution: Cloth bags were distributed to Nirmal colony, the nearby adopted village on 9th February 2020 as part of community service. After the inaugural ceremony, the NSS volunteers distributed the cloth bags to all 427 families in the ward.
Seven Day Special Camp: The seven Day special camp Lakshya ’20 was held from 23rd January 2020 to 29th January 2020 at Govt. Junior Basic LP School, Neeramukal which was inaugurated by the Panchayat President Adv. K.C Paulose in the presence of Prof. Dr. Babu Kurian, Academic Dean of MITS, Sri. I V Shaji, Health and Education Committee Chairman. Ward member of (block 8) Sri. Abhilash and Head Mistress of Govt. JBS L.P School, Sri Sheba Jose. The NSS volunteers cleaned the school campus and the fish tank, done the maintenance of the park and painted the outer walls of the school with beautiful designs. Everyday, the cultural programmes were also held by the volunteers.

NSS MITS has conducted blood donation camp in association with HDFC Bank and IMA Blood Bank. About 38 volunteers donated their blood to the blood camp.

NSS MITS volunteers collected books and other accessories including pen and pencils from college and distributed it to students of Govt school,Puthencruz. About 80 books were distributed among 40 students.

CHOTTANIKARA RAILWAY STATION CLEANING
NSS MITS has cleaned the Chottanikara railway station and its surroundings. The entrance was cleaned up and removed unwanted plants. Volunteers also disposed the plastic items.
PUTHENCRUZ LP SCHOOL CLEANING ON 2ND OCTOBER-2019
NSS MITS as part of Gandhi Jayanti volunteered in cleaning the nearby Puthencruz Government School. They cleaned the school surrounding and made proper disposal of plastic wastes. Also, volunteered for cleaning the garden and fences were arranged properly.

As part of Flood relief work NSS MITS collected 400 books, pens, pencil.Department OF Civil Engineering contributed 16 school bags and the collected items were given to Mananthavadi, Wayanad Flood Relief Camp on August-2019.
