• Jani Das has delivered an invited talk on Variability Analysis of Renewable Data Using Statistical Methodology at International Online Conference on Energy Sciences (ICES 2021) hosted by Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam
• Tony Mathew and Mr.Jim George has engaged one day training program on “Foundation Course on Basic PLC Programming and Introduction to SCADA” at MESCE Kuttipuram
• Venugopalan K has delivered a lecture on “Artificial Intelligence” during five day KTU sponsored FDP on Smart Computing-Technologies and Appilcations at MESCE Kuttipuram.
• Dr Chikku Abraham delivered a lecture on Revolutionizing the Charging infrastructure -The Park Bay/Destination Chargers as part of GoElectric Campaign by Bureau of Energy Efficiency and Energy Management Centre, Kerala.

The inaugural ceremony of the activation of EARC and SEEM chapter of MITS for AY 2020-2021 commenced virtually on the digital platform of Google Meet on 23.9.2020, Wednesday at 10.15 am in the presence of the following dignitaries – Chief guest, Mr. Suresh Kumar M, Additional Director, PCRA, Kochi, Dr. Jani Das,  HOD, Department of EEE, Ms. Meera Sivadas, faculty coordinator of EARC and Asst. Professor EEE ,Mr. Jim George ,faculty coordinator of SEEM chapter of MITS and Asst. Professor,EEE and  Dr. Gylson Thomas, Professor EEE.

Ms. Meera Sivadas formally welcomed all the dignitaries, colleagues and students who adorned the inaugural ceremony with their presence. She mentioned about the significance of EARC and SEEM and its visions concerning the college.

Dr. Jani Das spoke about the two professional bodies and encouraged everyone to take part in the activities of EARC and SEEM. She also congratulated members EARC and SEEM Chapter and its coordinators.

In the inaugural address, Mr. Suresh Kumar M congratulated the college for its initiatives and associations in order to imbibe in its students a community feeling as engineers and to mould innovative minds.

The Newsletter of the activities of EARC during the year 2019-20 was released and the activation of EACR and SEEM chapter was done virtually, along with which the new office bearers of EARC and SEEM for the year 2020-21 were introduced.

Dr. Gylson Thomas, in his address encouraged the students and its members to take all the opportunities that comes with the associations with purpose and to never fail to utilise any opportunity to grow within the associations.

In the end, Ms. Asha Miriam Joint Secretary of EARC, proposed the vote of thanks to everyone for gracing the occasion by their presence and to the faculty coordinators for providing support and guidance in the smooth conduct of the event.

The formal inauguration was followed by a technical talk on the topic “Building Sustainable Transporation” by  the chief guest ,Mr. Suresh Kumar M. The talk focused on building an environmentally sound   enhancing public transportation with eco-friendly driving and progressing in battery technology of EV. The webinar ended with an interactive session with the students.

The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science organized a five days National level online Faculty Development Programme on Research Initiatives in Renewable Energy Systems, held from 21^st – 25^th July, 2020.  The targeted audience were faculty members, scientists and engineers from industry, research scholars and PG/UG students and the objective was to enlighten them in the field of renewable energy systems. Around 200 members from various categories were participated in the programme from all over India.

Main speakers of the programme were

1) Prof.Rangan Banerjee (Forbes Marshall Chair Professor), Head of the Department of Energy Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay.

2)  Prof.S. Ashok/ Prof.Karthikeyan.V, Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut.

3) Prof.Kumaravel.S, Assistant Professor, Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Calicut.

4)  Prof.K.K.Sasi, Department of Electrical  & Electronics Engineering, Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetam, Coimbatore.

5)  Prof. A.Vijayakumari, Department of Electrical  & Electronics Engineering, Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetam, Coimbatore.

Major areas covered by the resource persons were prospects of renewable energy sources in the present scenario, research challenges in solar PV system and energy storage units, integration of renewable into the electricity grid, high renewable energy penetration, role of power converters in grid integration of renewable source and smart inverter functions. The FDP were coordinated by the department faculty members, Dr.Gylson Thomas, Ms.Sindhura Rose Thomas and Mr.Ajish.P.J.

The Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science organized a two-day Online Webinar Training program on Basic PLC & Programming held from 6^th to 7^th July, 2020. The targeted audience were PG/UG engineering students. 20 students participated in the programme. The resource persons of the program were

An invited talk on the topic Modern Drifts In Automation And Control Technologies “ was conducted by the department of EEE ON 22/01/2020. The resource person was Mr.Ajit Paul Abraham ,Research Associate in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering,IIT Bombay. The talk covered basic aspects of Programming Languages and its strategic uses,An Intro to Artificial Neural Networking Strategies,Data Science and its importance ,Embedded Systems,User Interface Architecture – HTML/JavaScript/Server Programming,Web Systems and Importance Data – Web scraping Techniques,Hardware and interfacing methodologies  and Data Pipelining .The speaker gave an insight into selection of final year project topics and the methodologies to be followed for successful completion. The talk was attended by all students of the EEE department.

An inter department faculty development programme was organized on 06.01.2020. The sessions were as follows:

• An introduction to the role of machine learning in power systems.
• Introduction to SIEMENS S&1200/S71500 PLC

he Electrical and Electronics Engineering Association (EARC) conducted the official association activation and newsletter release on 8.11.2019(Friday). The chief guest for the function was Mr. Amal S, Scientist E and Joint Director, Power Electronics Group, CDAC – T.

The event commenced with the Welcome Address by Ms. Megha Mary Biju, Secretary, EARC. This was followed by the presidential address by Dr. Neelakantan PC, Principal MITS. Mr. Amal S delivered the inaugural address. This was followed by the newsletter release. Dr. Chikku Abraham, Vice Principal, MITS and Dr. Anjali Varghese C, HOD EEE felicitated the gathering. The event ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. AbhijeethAshramath, Member, EARC.

The official programme was followed by a Technical Talk on ‘Electric Vehicles – Scope andOpportunities’ by Mr. Amal S.

The speaker explained the steps involved in an energy-efficient street lighting project cycle which includes lighting requirements and needs, best available technology, procurement and tender evaluation, operation and maintenance, measurement and evaluation

The speaker focused on the importance of energy conservation, measures to save energy and various aspects of electrical safety.

An electronic product building workshop for the  fourth semester EEE students were conducted by TRUETEK WORLD.

Dr. B Anil( former Principal of Govt Engineering College -Bartonhill Trivandrum),and Er. Kala(Rtd Engineer,KSEB) interacted with the second and final years of electrical Department. Dr Anjali Varghese EEE HOD, welcomed the guest and gave a brief introduction .Dr Anil gave a brief talk to the students on his accomplishment. Er.Kala was invited to share some of her experiences at K.S.E.B. She interacted with students and asked questions related to generation transmission and distribution of power in the state and central. She enlightened the students with information related to the distribution of electrical power in the state.The students responsed with answers to questions asked. Dr Anil also interacted with the students. Finally Dr Anil gave a session on NBA and the need for the institution to get accredited.
