In order to commemorate the discovery of the Raman Effect in India by the Indian physicist, Sir
Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman in the year 1930, the day is celebrated as National Science Day.For his great success in the field of science in India, ChandrasekharaVenkataRaman had beenawarded and honoured with the Nobel Prize in the Physics in the year 1930. To honour this event, 28th of February is observed as a National Science Day in India A particular theme isselected for every year National Science Day Celebration. The theme of this year was“Communicating Science For All”
National Science Day was celebrated at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science, Varikoli on 27th February 2019 sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment(KSCSTE) and supported by DST, Govt. of India. The event commenced with an official inaugural function. The presidential address was delivered by Dr.Neelakantan P C(Principal, MITS). Dr.Chikku Abraham (Vice Principal, MITS) and Dr. Anjali Varghese C (HODEEE) felicitated the gathering. The eminent panelists of the Science Summit were welcomed.The panelists were

Under the supervision and expertise of the Department Of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, MITS is on its way to implement  a 250 KW rooftop solar plant under BOOT Model, the first of its kind in KERALA.

SIEMENS – a global powerhouse focusing on the areas of electrification,automation and digitization unveiled its first COE in Kerala, on 08/03/2018 at Muthoot Institute Of Technology And Science ( MITS) . This venture, is initiated by Department Of Electrical & Electronics at MITS, is expected to demystify the unsolved ‘Academia- Industry’ gap . It has the potential to offer solutions to real life industrial problems and transform student knowledge level by offering certified courses in Basic PLC , HMI Networking , SCADA and AC and DC drives.

EARC Organized  ‘ Lecture Series on Disruptive Technologies’ for the  students.The main objective is to enlighten the students on the Disruptive and Emerging Technologies in the recent days beyond the curriculum and help them channelize their focus to these areas depending on their aptitude and interest.

The activation of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Association (EARC) of MITS and release of Third Newsletter “Plugged- In” was conducted on 15th October 2018.The chief guest for the function was Col Shaji M Varghese(Retd), Managing Director, Kerala Electrical & Allied Engg Co Ltd and Keynote Speaker was Mr. G Krishnakumar, SEEM General Secretary. Inaugural address will be delivered by Col Shaji M Varghese(Retd) Managing Director, Kerala Electrical & Allied Engg Co Ltd .On this occassion, EARC is commemorating World Standards Day in association with SEEM(Society of Energy Engineers and Managers). A technical talk will be delivered on the topic ” Relevance of Standards” by Mr. G Krishnakumar, SEEM General Secretary. The official function was followed by the Poster Design Competition based on the theme ” International Standards and  the Fourth Industrial Revolution” .

IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE student branch MITS was inaugurated on 12th February 2018. EEE department of MITS in association with TRITECH Design Academy and ERAC ( Electrical Association for Revolutionizng Creations) has organized a two-day technical symposium “Electrothon-17” on 22nd and 23rd September 2017. It provided a great opportunity for students to interact with some of the most influential names in the power industry like Siemens, Honeywell, Philips, L&T, Rittal, Cape, Bender and Ravin.

The chief guest of the day was Arun Kumar P.G. (Project Manager, Schneider Electric UK). After the function, the chief guest provided the students of EEE department with an interactive session about “Global Energy Solutions – The Schneider Perspective”.

Inauguration of SEEM student chapter at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science was held on 25th April 2017.The chapter was inaugurated by Mr. C M Varghese (SEEM Kerala Chapter President). Principal Dr. Ramkumar S presided over the function. Mr. Jim George, Asst: Professor, Department of EEE delivered the welcome speech. Felicitations were given by Dr. Anjali Varghese, Head of Department, EEE and Ms. Ambili Mohan, Asst: Professor, EEE. Dr. M Jayaraju Madhavan Former director of ANERT inaugurated the activation of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Association (EARC) and Energy Club of Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science on 13th August 2015.

Energy conservation campaign organized by EARC in association with NSS unit MITS is inaugurated on 19/10/2015 by Sri.A.V.Shaji, Panchayath Secretary Vadavucode-Puthencruz Panchayath.

E-Raksha was a joint venture of the Energy club of MITS and NSS unit of the college aiming to make the public aware about Electrical Safety in daily life. Electrical accidents are a common sight among the general public now a days. Most of them occur only due to lack of awareness and carelessness that can be avoided. This campaign includes an awareness class by the students of the Electrical and Electronics department and NSS volunteers under the guidance of faculties.

The campaign was inaugurated by Mr. Anil Kumar (Panchayat secretary of Puthencruze –Vadavukode panchyat).

The campaign was conducted in 6 wards of the Vadavucode – Puthencruz panchayat in 3 days during the Pooja holidays from 9th October 2016 to 11th October2016. The campaign included a PowerPoint presentation comprising of 4 major sessions. They are

1. The power of electricity.
2. Common mistakes while handling electrical equipment.
3. Methods of avoiding dangerous situations.
4. First aid training at the time of an accident.

The sessions were presented by 4 students in each ward. Two wards were completed in a day simultaneously. The campaign was conducted in 8th , 10th , 11th , 13th , 14th, 15th ward of Vadavucode – Puthencruz panchayat.
