The Faculty Development Programme on Industry 4.0 : Current Research Trends and Challenges with Dr Selvia Kuriakose and Ms Deepa Prabhu as coordinators was approved by the APJ Abdul Kalam University via proceedings KTU/JD(ACADEMICS)/2223/2019 dated 12/12/2018.The 5 days FDP was conducted from 27th May to 31st May 2019.Thirty faculty members with twenty external participants and ten internal participants attended the FDP. Technologists from leading industries and eminent academicians from reputed institutes handled the sessions.
The first session was on Support Vector Machines by Dr Rajesh Cherian Roy,Associate Professor, ASIET,Kalady. He gave a basic mathematical preliminary to the support vector machine.
The second session and afternoon sessions were on the introduction of Machine learning was handled by Dr Kumar Rajamani,Manager (Technical),Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Bangalore. The session gave a illustrative introduction to machine learning basics using online tools.The session was hands on for Tensor Flow using Google Colab.
On second day the forenoon session was handled by Dr Ganesh Neelakanta Aiyer Associate Professor, Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetham Coimbatore. The session dealt with machine learning and its importance in the Industry 4.0
The afternoon session of Day 2 dealt with mathematical preliminaries for machine learning. The session was taken by Dr Sudhish George,Assistant Professor,NIT Calicut. Sparse Matrix concepts were dealt with.
Day3 started with a hands on session by Mr Hrishikesh Senior data analyst Attinad Software on tensor flow analysis in Ubuntu OS from installation to testing.
The afternoon session and the Day 4 forenoon session was handled by Mr Vijay Krishna Menon Assistant Professor,Amritha Vishwa Vidyapeetham,Coimbatore. It was a session on new generation data analytics. He used Scala programming for the analysis.
The first session of afternoon was handled by Dr Neelakantan PC Principal MITS on Next Generation Wireless Networks in the Context of Industry 4.0.
The last session of Day 4 was taken by Ms Vidya Gopal TV,Assistant Professor,MITS on an introduction to deep learning.
Day 5 started with a session on Deep generative models by Mr Anoop BN , Research scholar,NIT Suratkal. He used Google Co labs for illustrating the concept.
The last session of the FDP was handled by Pranav V Pradeep of Tilt Labs on Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. The session was well liked by the audience as there was VR demo.
