Department of Civil Engineering has been in existence since the inception of MITS. Over the years, the department has grown tremendously by developing strong links with buildings, construction industries, academic and research units. The department has seventeen dedicated and well-qualified faculty members pioneered by Dr. Mary Lissy P N. The course overtures well-equipped laboratories and modern machines, promising all Civil Engineering aspirants, an opportunity to excel in the very field.
The department, besides providing a platform for students to qualify as good Civil Engineers, in parts an exposure to beyond technical hour sessions, talks by experts and industrial visits. The students are privileged with fortuitous indulgence of the department to bring up their talents and co-curricular skills.
The Department of Civil Engineering was established in the year 2013 with an intake of 60 students in the under-graduate level. Our Department with highly qualified dedicated faculty, well equipped laboratories and infrastructure facilities goes the extra mile in ensuring quality education. We are committed in moulding the students into excellent engineering professionals by exposing them to new innovations and developments in the field of Civil Engineering.
We are actively involved in organizing various technical activities, Site/ Industrial visits and Internship training to nurture the skills of students. The Department focuses on in-house research projects and consultancy services where research activities are executed. We also develop entrepreneurial skills in students to drive the spirit of growth of our economy.
The Civil Engineering Department envisions advancing research that contributes to sustainable, resilient, and efficient infrastructure development. Our focus lies in solving real-world engineering challenges through practical, software-supported analysis and design across key areas such as structural systems, geotechnics, transportation, and environmental engineering. By fostering a strong research culture rooted in technical expertise and field relevance, we aim to deliver impactful solutions that support societal growth and environmental responsibility.
The Department of Civil Engineering at MITS fosters professionalism among students through active involvement in student chapters of professional bodies. A variety of activities, including technical events, expert discussions, and social awareness programs, are regularly organized to cultivate leadership, technical competence, and a sense of societal responsibility.

Department of civil engineering, MITS, have highly experience faculty who can provide high end solutions for the technical problems in structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, materials, transportation, surveying, water resources and environmental engineering. The department is already playing an active role in the testing of materials, structural design, soil testing, water testing, surveying and traffic studies.
The Civil Engineering Department at MITS houses a dedicated Department Library that complements the central library resources. It offers a focused collection of textbooks, reference materials, IS codes, project reports, and journals relevant to various civil engineering disciplines. The library provides a quiet and resource-rich environment for students and faculty to support academic work, research, and project development.
