Established in 2022, the Department of Master of Computer Applications (MCA) at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (MITS) offers a rigorous two-year postgraduate program affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (APJAKTU), Thiruvananthapuram, and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. With an intake of 60 students, the department is guided by a team of experienced and committed faculty members. The program is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in computer science and advanced skills in software development, preparing them for successful careers in the dynamic and competitive IT industry.

Dr. Geethu S

Dr. Geethu S achieved a significant academic milestone on August 6, 2024, successfully defending her Ph.D. thesis, "Development of a Computational Method for Three-Dimensional Protein Structure Prediction," at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Kochi. Beyond her doctoral work, she actively pursued professional development in late 2024. This included completing MathWorks courses “MATLAB Onramp” (October 24) and “Machine Learning Onramp” (November 14). She also completed MindLuster courses on “Time Management Techniques” (December 6) and “Human Psychology“ (December 11). Dr. Geethu S attended a Three-Day National Level Online Faculty Development Programme on “Bridging Gen Z to Careers: Faculty Toolkit for Placement Performance & Accreditation,” organized by SCMS Cochin School of Business (October 23-25), and a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on "Mastering research proposals and design thinking approaches" organized by the Civil Engineering Department, Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science (November 27-28, 2024).

In 2024, Dr. Smitha Anu Thomas significantly enhanced her expertise in Artificial Intelligence. She earned an AI Fundamentals Skill Badge from IBM SkillsBuild on October 21. She participated in the Faculty Enablement Program on Artificial Intelligence by Infosys Springboard (June 24-28) and subsequently completed both the Artificial Intelligence Foundation Certification (June 30) and the Artificial Intelligence Primer Certification (July 3) from Infosys Springboard. Dr. Thomas also attended a 2-day workshop on Strategic Plan for Research Activities on AI, ML and Robotics organized by APJA KTU at Govt. Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara (September 27-28). Furthermore, she participated in the 6-day National Level FDP on “The Generative AI Revolution: Navigating the Opportunities and Challenges” organized by the Dept. of Computer Applications, FISAT in association with TCS, Kochi (August 12-19).
