IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is a global organization dedicated to advancing technology for humanity, focusing on a wide range of fields including electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, telecommunications, aerospace, biomedical engineering, and more. The IEEE aims to foster technological innovation and excellence for the benefit of humanity. It provides a platform for collaboration, standards development, and knowledge sharing in various engineering fields.
Our college has five Society chapters namely Robotics & Automation society (RAS), Computer Science Society, Circuits and Systems Society (CASS) & Power and Energy Society (PES). It also has a active Women in Engineering (WiE) affinity group. The vibrant Student Branch (SB) of the college along with the society conduct various technical and non-technical events and participate in various events in other institutions. They have obtained various funds for conducting workshops, hackathons and outreach events.
IEEE chapter offer students the opportunity to become members of IEEE, which connects them with a vast global network of professionals and academics. Student members can access resources, attend conferences, and participate in global discussions about emerging technologies.
Through events and interactions with IEEE professionals, students can form
valuable connections with industry leaders, potential employers, and peers
across the globe.
IEEE student branches frequently organize workshops, seminars, and
lectures on a variety of engineering topics such as robotics, machine learning,
embedded systems, and renewable energy. These sessions help students
expand their technical knowledge and gain exposure to real-world
applications.
Faculty and industry experts are often invited to speak at IEEE-sponsored
events, providing insights into current trends, research, and career pathways
in various technical fields.
The student branches often organize or participate in coding competitions,
robotics challenges, and design contests (e.g., IEEE Robotics and Automation
Society Competitions), giving students practical experience and a chance to
showcase their skills.
The IEEE student chapters host local IEEE conferences or symposia, often
focused on cutting-edge research, industry applications, or emerging
technologies. These events allow students to present their research, learn
from experts, and develop their academic writing and speaking skills.
IEEE provides opportunities for students to attend prestigious IEEE
conferences around the world. Student members often receive discounts or
sponsorships to help cover the costs of travel and registration.
The SB often host resume-building workshops, mock interviews, and career
counselling sessions to help students prepare for their job searches. These
events may be conducted by alumni or industry professionals.
The IEEE student branches connects members with industry mentors who
provide career guidance, advice, and support for professional growth.
IEEE student chapters encourage students to collaborate on research
projects, providing them with access to cutting-edge resources and tools.
They often help organize student research paper submissions for IEEE
journals or conferences, offering students a platform to publish their work.
Students are encouraged to design, prototype, and develop their engineering
projects. IEEE student branches may provide resources, lab facilities, and
support for these initiatives.
Becoming involved in an IEEE student branch offers students the chance to
take on leadership positions (e.g., president, secretary, event coordinator),
which helps develop essential skills such as communication, project
management, and team leadership.
