GDG – MITS

GDGs on Campus, formerly known as the Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), began its journey on 30th September 2022. It focuses on teaching and learning about Google tools like Android and Google Cloud. The club organizes workshops, coding sessions, and hackathons to facilitate project development. Additionally, it connects students with industry-leading experts to gain insights into real-world applications. The primary goal is to foster learning, idea-sharing, and collaborative creation of meaningful solutions. With a current executive committee strength of 11 members, the club proudly boasts a total membership of 928.

Inaugural Event of GDSC MITS With Ms. Ananya R on 30th September 2022

The Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) MITS was inaugurated on 30th September 2022 with Ms. Ananya R as the guest, marking the beginning of a journey to inspire and empower student developers.

Let’s Git Started

Let’s Git Started is an event that introduces everyone to the concept of Git and GitHub and also gives a brief introduction to the Idea of Open Source and HacktoberFest.

Day 1 & Day 2 – Basic Setup and App Building

Throughout the compose camp, the basics of building Android apps with Jetpack Compose, the new UI toolkit for building Android Apps was familiarized. In the first session, more about Android Studio and how you can use it to build apps was introduced.

Day 3: Add a Button to an App

Throughout the compose camp, the basics of building Android apps with Jetpack Compose, the new UI toolkit for building Android Apps were introduced. In the third and final session, we learned how to respond to a button click in an Android App.

Google Cloud Career Practitioner Campaign

The GCCP campaign by Google allowed us to kickstart our learning on Cloud Technology, the tool that powers apps like Google Search, Gmail, and YouTube. Along the way, we were able to learn & practice concepts like computing, application development, big data & machine learning using the cloud and implement them by building projects on Google Cloud Console. It helped us to prepare for Google Cloud certifications and earn badges for our Google Developer profile. We provided content support and access to the Google Cloud Skill Boost Platform for the participants to take the course.

Navigating Google Cloud with the Cloud Pilot

With the ongoing 30-day cloud campaign building, what could be better than the opportunity to interact with one of the imminent personalities, who has made it into one of the revered Google Cloud premier partners with his sheer hard work and dedication? Passing out from MITS in 2021, Udesh has got his foot strong in the field of cloud computing and got certified in 9 out of 11 GCP certifications within a very short time. He has also taken time to mentor a lot of students making him the right person to give us insights on how to approach the ever-growing field of cloud computing.
