Department of Artificial Intelligence(AI) & Data Science(DS) aims at moulding highly competent AI & DS professionals which are in high demand in the present society. AI is a branch of Computer science that deals with the process of enabling computers/machines to perform intellectual tasks like decision making, problem solving, perception, human language understanding, image recognition etc. AI has in fact made human life more comfortable and efficient. Typical examples are Amazon’s virtual assistant “Alexa” , social robot “Sophia”, IoT enabled devices etc. Data science is an interdisciplinary field focused on extracting knowledge from typically large data sets and applying the knowledge and insights from that data to solve problems in a wide range of application domains like health, climate modelling, business, entertainment etc As such, it needs skills from computer science, statistics, information science, mathematics, data visualization. This department is the youngest department of the MITS family. Dedicated and well qualified staff having expertise in diversified AI & DS fields like Computer Vision, Natural language Processing, Machine Learning, Deep learning and Data analytics is a remarkable strength of the department. Good infrastructure consisting of well-equipped laboratories, high speed internet connection, high end computing facilities, smart class rooms and library access to a wide range of electronic databases, e-journals, and online books which in turn assist the productivity of the students are the other high lights of the department.
