The MITS BAJA (All-Terrain Vehicle) team delivered an exceptional performance at the prestigious BAJA SAE 2026 competition held at the National Automotive Test Tracks (NATRAX), Indore, from 7th to 11th January 2026.
Competing against some of the finest engineering institutions in the country, the team secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 11 Overall, placing them among the nation’s best teams. Demonstrating remarkable technical precision and performance excellence, MITS BAJA achieved:
AIR 2 in Efficiency – showcasing superior vehicle optimization and fuel management.
AIR 4 in Endurance – reflecting the vehicle’s durability, reliability, and consistent performance under rigorous testing conditions.
Finishing 11th overall in a highly competitive field stands as a testament to the team’s relentless effort, innovation, and dedication.
The 30-member team was led by Captain Mr. Boyal Gijo (2022–26, Mechanical Engineering), whose leadership and commitment were instrumental in driving the team’s success. The team was mentored by Mr. Charly Chacko and guided by Mr. Anand Rajagopal (Faculty Advisor), whose technical expertise and continuous support played a vital role throughout the competition journey.
This achievement reflects the spirit of teamwork, perseverance, and engineering excellence that defines MITS BAJA.
