Electrical Workshop 

Faculty In charge: Ms. Preenu Paul

The electrical workshop includes all the necessary equipment and tools as prescribed in the University syllabus. The lab is utilized by the first year students of all engineering branches. The students are familiarized with commonly used components, accessories, measuring equipment in electrical installations and also given hands on experience in setting up of simple wiring circuits like staircase wiring, godown wiring, tunnel wiring etc.

Electrical Measurements Lab

Faculty In charge: Mr. Ajith Vijayan

The electrical measurements lab includes all the necessary equipment and accessories as prescribed in the University syllabus. The lab is utilized by the second year EEE students. The students conduct experiments on verification of DC Network Theorems, measurement of power and energy, calibration of energymeters. experiments using slidewire potentiometers, bridges and instrument transformers are also conducted. Students use this lab to perform experiments within and beyond the syllabus. Project work is also carried out in this lab.

Electrical Machines Lab

Faculty In charge: Mr. Tony Mathew

The electrical machines lab includes all the necessary equipment and accessories as prescribed in the University syllabus. The lab is utilized by second and third year students of EEE and ME.  The lab houses different AC and DC Machines. The Dc machine Lab is equipped with Rectifier set(150A) and 18KW M-G set for uninterrupted DC power. Students use this lab to perform experiments within and beyond the syllabus. Project work is also carried out in this lab.

Control and Simulation Lab

Faculty In charge: Dr. Jim George

The control and simulation lab includes all the necessary equipment and accessories as prescribed in the University syllabus. The lab is utilized by third year EEE students. The lab is provided with additional computer facility with MATLAB software installed in all the systems to perform various simulation experiments. The lab also houses AC Servomotor kit, Stepper motor interfaced with microprocessor, Synchro-Transmitter Receiver Pair, Level Control System and Inverted Pendulum. Students use this lab to perform experiments within and beyond the syllabus. Project work is also carried out in this lab.

Power Electronics Lab

Faculty In charge: Ms. Geethu Chacko

The power electronics and instrumentation lab includes all the necessary equipment and accessories as prescribed in the University syllabus. The lab is utilized by students of various branches. The lab is provided with additional computer facility with MATLAB software installed in all the systems to perform various simulation experiments. The lab includes various power electronic converter setups. Students use this lab to perform experiments within and beyond the syllabus. Project work is also carried out in this lab.

Power Systems Lab

Faculty In charge: Mr. Aravind Rajagopal

The power systems lab includes all the necessary equipment and accessories as prescribed in the University syllabus. The lab is utilized by final year EEE students The lab is provided with additional computer facility with MATLAB software installed in all the systems to perform various simulation experiments. The lab also includes hardware setup like numerical relays & static relays to improve the learning experience. Students use this lab to perform experiments within and beyond the syllabus. Project work is also carried out in this lab.

MITS- SIEMENS Centre of Excellence for Automation and Drives

Faculty In charge: Mr. Jim George

This lab is exclusively set up in collaboration with SIEMENS to deliver certification courses on PLC, SCADA and Drives to the students. The courses are delivered by the SIEMENS Certified faculty trainers. The lab includes Automation and Drives set up. Project work is also carried out in this lab.

Project laboratory

  • EEE Department project lab is an exclusive space allotted for the students to carry out their project work.
  • The Project laboratory has a vital role in promoting practical learning experience. It provides an ideal environment where the students develop creative ideas and implement their projects.
  • The students have access to the reputed journals & IEEE papers through internet facility provided in the project lab. This helps the students to conduct detailed and extensive literature survey with the available resources.
  • Project Lab is furnished with required equipment and modern software tools such as MATLAB, PSIM, MiPower, LabView which are available for the students.
  • The project lab also consists of modern equipment like Harmonic analyzer, Digital storage oscilloscope and power analyzer which can be used for project work.
  • Wi-Fi connection is provided in the project laboratory.
  • The best projects from the previous years are also displayed in the project lab.

     Utilization

  • Utilization for Project Labs start from 8.30 A.M-4.30 P.M during working hours and from 4.30 P.M – 6.00 P.M after the working hours.
  • On prior request and permission by the students can access the facility during non- working days also.
  • Students can utilize the project Labs for final year projects and mini projects.
