SPONSORED RESEARCH

The department has been actively involved in cutting-edge research, securing funding from esteemed agencies to drive innovation and address significant societal challenges. Our research endeavors span various domains, from healthcare advancements to security frameworks, demonstrating a strong commitment to impactful and high-quality research.

One of our ongoing projects, the Snake Detecting System, is funded by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University with a grant of ₹20,700 for the year 2023-2024. This project aims to develop a reliable system for detecting snakes, enhancing safety measures in residential and agricultural areas.

Another major initiative is the Capstone Project: ML-Based Linux Distro, supported by The Muthoot Group, with a substantial funding of ₹2,00,000. This project focuses on developing an optimized Linux distribution integrated with machine learning capabilities to enhance performance and security.

In the healthcare domain, we have proposed a project titled Revolutionizing Healthcare: A Comprehensive Approach Using Vision Transform and Transfer Learning for Lymphocyte Classification and Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Detection. This ambitious research, under review by SERB SURE, has sought funding of ₹17,71,507, aiming to leverage AI to improve early leukemia detection and lymphocyte classification.

Continuing our commitment to medical research, the Breast Cancer Detection and Classification Using Patch-Based Learning Techniques project, funded by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University with ₹22,200, remains an ongoing initiative focusing on enhancing accuracy in breast cancer diagnosis.

Exploring trust and security in research publications, the department is working on a Blockchain-Based Framework for Enhancing Trust During Various Phases of Research Publication, which has been granted ₹50,000 by APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University. This project aims to establish a transparent and tamper-proof mechanism for research documentation.

Additionally, our department successfully completed the Deep Learning-Based Ship Detection and Classification from Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) Images project, backed by CARS, DRDO, with ₹9,60,000 in funding. This research played a crucial role in advancing maritime surveillance and security.

PRODUCT DEVELOPED

The department also focuses on pioneering product development to simplify campus management and administrative workflows through technology-driven solutions. To further promote interdisciplinary innovation, the Centre for Industrial Consultancy, Interdisciplinary Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (CIDRIE) has been established as a dedicated platform.

  • MITS Hostel App: A user-friendly Android application, developed by the 2019-2023 batch, the MITS Hostel App streamlines hostel management by facilitating transparent leave approvals, gate pass tracking, and real-time parent-student communication for attendance monitoring.   • Mentoring App: Developed by the 2019-2023 batch, the Mentoring App is a PHP-based web platform designed to digitalize student mentoring in educational institutions.   • Global Elective Selector: To enhance the elective selection process for 7th-semester B.Tech students, this web-based tool ensures fair allocation of courses under APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University.   • Real-Time Bus Location and Schedule Monitoring App :The “Where is My Bus?” application provides real-time tracking of public transport buses, offering convenience and efficiency for daily commuters.   • Ecosift:A pioneering waste management solution developed by the 2020-2024 batch, EcoSift is designed to automatically separate plastic waste from mixed waste streams, minimizing manual intervention and improving efficiency. Faculty In-charges: Ms. Steffy Livera
  • The department remains dedicated to driving innovation, fostering research excellence, and developing transformative products that contribute meaningfully to society and academia.
  • Slide Changer and Classroom Content Manager:Developed as an open-source project on GitHub, this NodeJS-based tool enables seamless slide transitions and efficient content management during classroom sessions. It has been widely used for courses such as Unix Shell Programming, System Software, Operating System Kernel Design, and Operating Systems Lab.

  • Android Pie-Based Smartphone OS Development:This project focuses on developing a custom Android operating system using AOSP and LineageOS sources for the Redmi Note 4. These beta releases incorporate the latest security updates and software upgrades from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). The ROMs are available on Androidfilehost, with the source code hosted on GitHub. As a niche area in mobile technology, Android OS development plays a crucial role in smartphone production.
