HOUR OF CODE
Date: 23th January 2025
The ACM Student Chapter conducted an Hour of Code program at Our Lady of Fatima Higher Secondary School (OLFHSS), Kumbalangi, on 23rd January 2025, for 8th and 9th standard students. The session introduced students to Python programming, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Cybersecurity, aiming to spark their interest in technology. The program began with an interactive introduction to Python, where students learned basic syntax, loops, and conditional statements through hands-on exercises. This was followed by a session on AI, where students explored real-world applications like chatbots, voice assistants, and self-driving cars. They were fascinated by how AI influences daily life and engaged in discussions on its ethical implications. The cybersecurity session emphasized safe internet practices, covering topics like phishing, strong passwords, and online threats. The students actively participated, asking insightful questions and sharing their thoughts on digital safety. A short quiz and interactive discussions helped reinforce key takeaways from each session. The event received positive feedback from both students and faculty, with many expressing a keen interest in learning more about coding and AI. The ACM team is grateful for the enthusiastic participation and looks forward to conducting similar workshops in the future.
