The department of Civil Engineering in MITS encourage professionalism in students through activities of Student chapters of Professional bodies. organizing various events, technical discussions and social awareness programs are few activities that are conducted on regular basis for achieving the objective.
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) student chapter is a professional organization that aims to provide opportunities for civil engineering students to network, learn, and develop their skills. The ASCE student chapter organizes various events and activities throughout the year, such as guest lectures, site visits, workshops, competitions, and socials. The ASCE student chapter also connects students with mentors, employers, and alumni in the field of civil engineering. By joining the ASCE student chapter, students can benefit from the resources, support, and guidance of a global community of civil engineers. An executive committee of student officers helps function the body under the advice of two practitioner advisors and a faculty advisor..
The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is, “To enable a sustainable built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustainable built environment by 2025”. The council offers a wide array of services which include developing new green building rating programmes, certification services and green building training programmes. The council also organises Green Building Congress, its annual flagship event on green buildings. The student chapter of Indian Green Building Council of the Department of Civil Engineering at Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science is a part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The individual members would work along with the esteemed community of green building professionals who facilitate the nation to be one among the global leaders in a sustainable built environment. Student Chapter of the IGBC student chapter was started at MITS on 01st March of 2018 (Membership Number: IGBCNP180127) .
Indian concrete institute (ICI) is the premier professional body for concrete technology with above 12,000 members with 38 centers spread across india. It has on its fold the captains of construction industry. Building material manufacturers. Leading consultants & Civil engineers, contractors, Academicians and Educational Institutions. ICI was founded in 1982 with its headquarter at Chennai. The objectives of ICI are to promote growth of concrete construction and its sub-specializations, disseminate knowledge and to train personnel, collaborate with national and international agencies in creating better understanding of concrete construction technology , to identify R&D issues, encourage outstanding achievements in concrete construction technology through its institutional awards etc., ICI organizes Periodical seminars, conferences , workshop & exhibitions on the subject and arranges lecture series on selected topics of relevant to concrete construction.ICI has collaborative with American concrete institute, Asian Concrete federation, Singapore concrete institution, Concrete institute of Australia etc,. ICI publishes Quarterly journal containing Peer- Reviewed technical papers, Technical Abstracts about 40 Journals. ICI has also brought out a number of publications & Monographs on various related topics.
