Department of ECE is organizing a Three-Day Workshop series in the areas of IC Design Using Cadence, PCB Design and Robotics.

Date:- 23rd to 25th January 2024

Time:- 9 am to 4 pm

Venue:- MPMC Lab

A faculty upskilling workshop on Digital Design Using FPGA was organised by Dr.Shobha G, Dr.Krishnapriya.S and Ms.Binu Manohar on 31st July 2023.

A Tech-Talk on Circuits and Systems for AI was conducted on 20th April 2023 and the session was handled by Dr. Kala S, Assistant professor and head of ECE dept at IIIT Kottayam.

JUMPSTART 3.0, the Outreach programme for School Students was conducted as an initiative aimed at creating an excellent experience for young minds in the area of technology. 50 students from 6 schools attended the program on Jan 19,20  2023.
The outreach program was coordinated by Dr. Arunkant A Jose, Asst. professor ECE MITS.
Sessions were handled by Dr. Arunkant A Jose, Mr. Rishikesh P H, Ms. Deepa Prabhu and technical staff Mr. Gincemon, Ms. Sajana Salam, Mr. Nixon Joy, Ms. Anitha T.K. and Ms. Lissy K O.

The department of ECE association in collaboration with IIC conducted training on IoT for S3 ECE students today from 1.00 PM to 4.00 PM at MPMC Lab.
The session involved basic app building using Blynk and control of actuators over Wi-Fi and Internet.
Students learned how to make IoT Based Home Automation Project using Blynk & NodeMCU ESP8266. Session included Mobile app based control of lighting, climate, entertainment systems, and appliances without a manual switch. Session included home security such as access control and alarm systems. When connected with the Internet, home devices are an important constituent of the Internet of Things (“IoT”).

The program was five days long. The first day included introduction to electronic boards, sensors and interfacing along with a hands- on project on development of a sensor based embedded system. Second day gave an insight into robotics and cyber physical systems along with a session on building a robot car and hands-on IoT. On the third day a hands-on session was arranged on drone and 3D printing. The fourth day was an introduction to Technology 5.0 with basic concepts of python. The fifth day was a walkthrough with machine learning and classification problems.

The entire five day program was coordinated by Dr. Arunkant A Jose, Asst. Professor, Department of ECE and Dr. Anand Hareendran, Associate Professor & HoD,  CSE Department. A team of ECE faculties, Dr. Arunkant A Jose, Mr. Rishikesh P H, and Ms. Deepa Prabhu handled the first three days of the program. Mr. Gince Mon , Lab Staff of ECE had supported the program on these three days. ECE student volunteers-Gabriel Eldose, Elvis Joseph Shibu, Alan K Alias Aswin Venugopal, Keziya Helen Babu, Devika R B and Alen Sabu of S8 ECE (2018-22), and Sreevidya, Rufus Niikita, Akhil Babu and Malavika of S6 ECE(2019-23)- assisted the sessions on the first three days. The last two days were handled by CSE faculties and staff.

The Department of ECE Association -“Illuminati”- organized an invited panel discussion session by our ECE passed out batch (2016-20) students who are placed at TCS. The interaction was on 17 Oct 2020 from 11.00 am to 12.00 pm for S5 and S7 ECE students.

Hearty Congratulations Harsha Sudheer (S7 ECE) on getting placed at SOTI ??

Hearty congratulations to Abel Thomas, Harsha Sudheer, Joel Chacko and Jophy Varghese of S7 ECE on getting shortlisted for the Second round in TCS CodeVita Season 9 Global Coding Contest

Warmest Congratulations to Gabriel Eldose, Febin Sunny, Sreeram, Avanthika Menon and Dewmol Johny of S5 ECE for their well deserved success in MITS Innovation Challenge 2019-20 !

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, it is needed to maintain social distancing. However, this is not possible for a medical worker, as they are expected  to take care of the patients by providing food and medicine at regular intervals. Though they are provided with protective kits, as the whole world is in a crisis situation, there is a shortage of these kits at many locations, making their life at stake. It is not enough to just provide the patients with food and medicine. It is also important to communicate with them to understand their needs.

‘Alpha droid’, a remotely controlled robot to assist medical workers for the timely dispense of food and medicine to the COVID-19 patients. It is a RF controlled Robot transmitting live visuals to a remote location (up to 100 meters). It carries weight (food and medicine) up to 20 Kilogram. Patients can communicate using voice and video with the person at the remote location for their needs. When a robot is deployed to assist the medical workers in dispensing the necessary materials, the Covid spread to the medical workers can be controlled. After every dispensing routine the robot can be disinfected manually with required precautions.  We plan to add UV disinfecting of the space occupied by Covid-19 patients as an extra feature soon.

This project was designed and developed by final year students of Muthoot Institute of technology and Science. The students behind this project are Ananthu Anil, AjayDas CF, Rohith Rajendran, Feba M Varghese. The project was mentored by ECE Department faculty, Mr. Baiju Karun, Dr. Arunkant A Jose,  and Ms. Megha Franklin. This project is funded under CSR initiative of Muthoot Group.
